UNIT 9
MOTIVATION
In this
unit I have learnt many useful and interesting things. Firstly I learnt that motivation allows people to feel encouraged and willing to start, continue and
finish anything, as for example homework, a module, a project, a job, and so
many other things that a person can do in life
Also is important to know that
motivation can influence many things, as in the decision why people decide or
not to do something, the amount of time they decide to take to achieve it and
the steps he or she will follow and take. Furthermore in the concern to the
study of the English language there are several different factors which can
influence motivation, they could be for example the necessity to learn the
language to find a job, getting onto a course of study, social interaction. Also
it could be the interest a person has in the target language culture in order
to be able to visit the country and avoid problems because of the ignorance of
the language.
Besides that motivation encourage people to
confidence which is a way of feeling that we can do things successfully and it
leads to learner autonomy that at the end the student will have a great success
on his or her job.
Finally, is
very important to apply this knowledge on a real class as motivation is the key
factor to make language learning successful. There are many situations in which
you can make your students feel motivated, one will be by telling them "My
intelligent students you are very capable students and I am completely sure you
are going to get a 10 in this homework." that is something a teacher can
repeat every day, especially for those demotivated students that once failed
and lost their motivation. Or for those unmotivated students the teacher can
say "Everyone here is intelligent and can do anything you want, because
you have a big brain and you only need to put it to work."
To sum up,
it is vital as teachers to keep in mind and make sure all students feel
comfortable in the class, the classroom atmosphere is adequate, also the
teacher must build up a good rapport, take into account the culture of all
students, know their interests, provide positive feedback and praise and
regarding to the context of the class, give clear instructions of the task and
provide the objective of it.

Great job! I see you got the main points of the unit, and what´s more you cover the key terms used for the TKT exam and its teaching-learning process.
ReplyDeleteThanks for such possitive comment Anita! Indeed I have a clear knowledge of many Units I have covered on the TKT Course as it is a great source to learn terms about teaching and learning languages.
DeleteYour point of view about motivation shows that you have a clear idea about the terms, the suggestions given by this book. You also have included a video which gives an excellent description about how people get motivated for doing something,
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Rose and yes I have been studying many different topics and Motivation is one that likes me the most as as is one of the most important to apply in every day classes with all students!
Deletevery nice!!
ReplyDeleteI think the information you have wrote is very explicit and also I like your videos since there are interesting things we as teachers could learn in order to do great job.

Jessy you are so nice by commenting on my reflection! and the videos are very interesting, they can help you a lot on your classes! how to manage motivation with students.
DeleteExcellent job!
ReplyDeleteYour blog is very useful for us as future teachers, it gave me a lot of new information and I will use this to apply in my own teaching, because you pointed out really important aspects for TKT preparation.
Dear Alexandra,
ReplyDeleteThe information that you provided will hep us to analize how important is the motivation in the teaching process and how students feel when they are unmotivated.
Good article.
I agree with you since motivation is necessary to learn a language and it helps to someone to continue study. I also learnt and understood better more TKT vocabulary.
